About Me
Well,
let's start with my name - H.R. Willaston. H is for Heather (my actual
name). R is for Ruce (my nickname). Willaston is a mash-up of my
married and maiden names.
I
live in California with my husband and our menagerie - currently we have
five cats, two tanks of fish and one dog, but with foster animals coming and
going that number changes often. I've lived in California my whole life,
moving from the San Fernando Valley (Granada Hills) to the San Joaquin
Valley (currently in Clovis).
My
day job is taking care of and teaching other people's children. (Usually as a
preschool teacher, but currently I'm an Special Education Tutor at a high school.) I'm also an animal rescue volunteer, team captain
for the local annual breast cancer race, a huge Disney fan, a nature kid
who loves to play in the rain and I "Bleed Dodger Blue" just like the
rest of my family.
I
love to read - a lot of Arthurian/Merlin stories, anything with dragons, lots
of fantasy and mythology. Some of my favorite books and stories are
written by Susan Cooper, Scott Cunningham, James A. Owen, Tennessee Williams,
Shakespeare, E.E. Knight, Charles Dickens and Dr. Seuss.
As
a Disney fan, my favorite movies include Beauty and the Beast, Chicken Little
and The Sorcerer's Apprentice along with Top Gun, The Lake House and
August Rush.
I
listen to all types of music from Classical to Classic Rock, County, Pop, and
Musicals. Bond, Rascal Flatts, Aerosmith, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Celtic
Woman, The Beatles, R.E.M. - the list can go on and on. I always listen
to music while I write, and I make a playlist/soundtracks for each
project.
