My first book was published one year ago! Future Letters is a year old - WOW! It's hard to believe that I've been a published author for a year today. In that year I've met some amazing people - authors, bloggers, bookworms - some in person, lots online. I've discovered what a great and supportive community there is out there and am so glad that I'm part of it.
When I wrote Future Letters only two people read it before I hit the publish button - my husband Scott and my friend and editor Lyda. Now that I'm working on getting my second book out into the world Scott of course was the first to read it, Lyda is again one of my editors, but so is her son/my monkey boy Greg and I was brave enough to ask a couple other people to read it in advance as well (Thank you Loralee and I love you Shay!). A lot's changed.
I've signed a few copies of Future Letters, been part of a few giveaway and have my own stack of signed books, bookmarks and swag from other authors. I've actually spoken to and met (online and in person) some of my favorite authors.
I started working at a high school and edited loads of student essays, had teachers buy my book (and ask for me to sign it) and encouraged a 17 year old student to write and helped him map out his own book (he's even making me a character - Rucifey - head of the Demon Slayers).
I never dreamed how much my life would change after clicking that publish button.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me through this journey.

ReplyDeleteI would pick a rock star, because I used to dance and that it is the closest.
ReplyDeleteAt the age of 15 I probably would have chosen to be a model. I didn't really start getting into reading until I was around 22 years old and being a rock start has never crosses my mind! LOL

ReplyDeleteI would have to say rock star, although I can't sing to save my life. Also, I don't think I can do the walk like a model.
ReplyDeleteAt 15, probably model, but life has made me wiser and I think I'd choose author now
ReplyDeleteeither a model, or rock star. But even at 15, I knew I wasn't qualified for either. And I've NEVER aspired to being a writer. I admire authors, but I've never wanted to be one.
ReplyDeleteauthor i think, i have always loved books
